When you have your bathroom renovated, you might consider getting a standalone shower and a separate bathtub. A lot of people like this choice because it gives them a lot of flexibility when it comes to the shower. For example, using this method will let you have a curbless shower, which just has a small lip at the edge of the shower to keep any water in. It makes it easier for people to get into the shower because there isn't a step, which makes it easier for a lot of people.

If you are going to have a separate shower, you need to make sure that you have a new door for it, because you need to have some way to keep the shower contained. There are several styles of doors you can use for your shower.

1. Curtains

While shower curtains aren't the same as shower doors, they are often put into the same category, because they are there to contain the water from the shower and to give you privacy while you are in the shower. There are a variety of curtains, and you can get them from places including home department stores to specialty stores. You can even get custom curtains with any picture you want to be printed on them.

2. Glass Doors

You can choose to go with glass doors. The nice thing about glass shower doors is that you are going to have a lot of options. You can go with clear glass so that you can see all the way through the shower. These kinds of doors will give you a way to keep the water in the shower enclosure, but less privacy. You could also go with tinted glass, which will give you privacy and water containment.

3. Framed/Frameless Door

Another option you have is whether you want to go with a framed or frameless door. A framed shower door will have a frame that your door is set into. That frame generally includes a top and bottom rail. You generally see these with sliding doors. A frameless door is secured to your shower without that railing. These doors are more often doors that will open in or out, like an entry door into your house. A frameless door can look more like it's floating in space in your bathroom and give your bathroom a lighter feel.

If you are redoing your bathroom and getting a new shower, you want to get a new door to go with your new shower. There are a lot of options out there you can choose from. Work with shower door contractors to learn more.
